恐怖海峡可以说的上是上个世纪80年代最成功的摇滚/流行乐队，它的成功有相当一部分是由于主唱马克诺弗勒深厚的文学造诣以及其精深的吉他演奏技巧。乐队一开始在伦敦酒吧中演出，随着声名鹊起，被唱片公司相中并推出了大受好评的同名音乐专辑。其中的摇摆之王也成为恐怖海峡的经典曲目，此后恐怖海峡还陆续推出“交流”、“电影制作”、“在每条大街上”、“难兄难弟”等专辑，并在商业上取得非常大的成功。
